    CATHODE RAY TUBE HAVING IMPROVED SHADOW MASK A shadow mask type of cathode ray tube, wherein the mask has a plurality of slit-shaped apertures therethrough aligned in columns, is improved by parallel corrugation of the mask. The peak-to-peak wavelength dimension of the corrugations is at least twice as great as the spacing between adjacent aperture columns.

    This invention relates to an electronic technique, in particular to a j; Be technique. cathode ray tubes equipped with shadow masks. The aim of the invention is to increase the strength and rigidity of the mask due to the curvature of its surface. The drawing shows the structural scheme of the screen-mask assembly of the cathode ray tube. The present assembly comprises a front flat panel 1 of the screen and a shadow mask 2 connected to the panel 1 by means of the fastening elements 3 and the supporting bars 4. The mask 2 is made with a plurality of slit-like holes 5 arranged in parallel columns. In the direction of the columns of the holes 5, the mask 2 is made with corrugations having the form of a smooth wave. 7 The lower bound on the distance between adjacent peaks of the corrugations corresponds to the maximum frequency of the wave of the corrugations, and the upper limit corresponds to the presence of at least one period of the corrugation wave. The mask fastening elements 3 are advantageously made elastic, and the support bar 4 is positioned along the center line of the corrugated mask profile. Other mounting patterns are possible. A shadow mask, made with corrugations and suitably fixed, is deformed when heated in such a way that the corrugations peaks slightly to or away from the panel, and this shift is significantly less than in masks with a flat or slightly curved surface.

    A CATHODE BEAM TUBE WITH A SHADOW MASK containing a cathode, a focusing-deflecting system, a screen and a shadow mask with a plurality of slit holes arranged in parallel columns, made with periodic bends in the column direction and attached to the tube by means of holding devices in a number of points along '' of curved sides, characterized in that, in order to increase the strength and rigidity of the mask, periodic bends are formed by smooth corrugations, the distance between adjacent peaks of which is at least twice as large earlier than the distance between the columns of the holes and does not exceed the product of the number of columns of holes by the distance between the columns, measured along the contour of the mask.
